Donovan + Donovan began operations as a father + son business venture in Vincennes, IN, nearly five decades ago. Today, our firm has grown significantly, as we serve markets all around the Midwest and beyond. We offer a range of services, including architecture, engineering, and interior design.

Our Story

Formally established in December of 1973 by father and son partners, Wayne and Larry Donovan, Donovan + Donovan set out to deliver professional services with the mantra of service above self from the very start.

Meet the Donovans

Before our firm’s beginning, Senior Partner Wayne Donovan, now deceased, practiced architecture for more than twenty-five years while his son, Larry, has worked in the profession since 1960. Derick Donovan, the third generation of architects in the Donovan family, joined the company in 1989 and has practiced architecture alongside his father and now Senior Partner, Larry, ever since.

Both Donovans are registered architects and hold memberships with the American Institute of Architects and National Council of Registration Boards. The younger Donovan is also a registered interior designer and a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and a proponent of sustainable design, and is a LEED GA professional.

Donovan + Donovan Team Today

Our company now consists of seven members and works primarily in a one hundred and fifty-mile radius of Vincennes, IN. However, our architects hold registrations in eleven states throughout the United States and can provide services wherever our clients need us.

Our pride and professionalism are exemplified in the vast number of projects we have successfully completed over the past decades. We continue to be gratified with the trust that our community and surrounding areas have placed in our firm to design their projects.

Larry Donovan

AIA

Larry, CEO and Partner with Donovan + Donovan, established the firm with his father in 1973. They founded the firm using the philosophy of service beyond self and to always listen to the needs of the client and provide a design and end product that meets those needs. In his role, he leads the firm in administration and development of the company.

Larry, CEO and Partner with Donovan + Donovan, established the firm with his father in 1973. They founded the firm using the philosophy of service beyond self and to always listen to the needs of the client and provide a design and end product that meets those needs. In his role, he leads the firm in administration and development of the company.

Derick Donovan

AIA, ASID, LEED GA

Derick is a partner and third generation architect at Donovan + Donovan. He brings over three decades of experience to his responsibility as lead designer of projects for the family owned company that’s also registered in 11 states, including Florida. He maintains an active role in his projects from initial client meetings and project design through construction documents and detailing. He is also fully involved in the construction administration and completion of his projects ensuring that the client approved designs are built without unauthorized or incidental changes along the way.

Steve Rehwald

Project Manager/Architectural CAD Technician

Steve is a Project Manager/Architectural CAD Technician at Donovan + Donovan. He has worked in the architectural and construction fields for over 20 years. He began his career by working in the field as a carpenter and transitioned to a Project Team Leader after being hired at the firm. His leadership experience involves small projects all the way up to multi-million dollar hotel projects involving construction documents and administration.
